FEES FOR DR O’CALLAGHAN – OBSTETRICS:

All your fees for the whole pregnancy and postnatal period for Dr O’Callaghan will be given to you in writing at your first visit during the pregnancy. You will be asked to sign a copy of this document to record that it has been given to you. If anything is not clear about these fees you should ask us as soon as possible.

Please note that there will be significant out-of-pocket costs involved in having your pregnancy care with Dr O’Callaghan at Darwin Private Hospital, even if you have “top level” private health insurance.

FEES FOR DR O’CALLAGHAN – ULTRASOUND SCANS & PROCEDURES:

All fees for Ultrasound Scans, Amniocentesis & CVS procedures and minor surgical procedures (such as D&Cs for early failed pregnancies) will be given to you at the time the scan or procedure is booked.

PRIVATE HEALTH FUNDS AND DARWIN PRIVATE HOSPITAL:

It is up to you to check with your Private Health Fund whether or not you are covered for pregnancy care and delivery in a private hospital. You should check this as soon as possible (or, ideally, before you become pregnant!). If your hospital care will not be covered by your private health fund you should obtain a written quote from Darwin Private Hospital as soon as possible.

FEES FOR OTHER SPECIALISTS:

Other Specialists, such as Paediatricians, Anaesthetists and Endocrinologists are frequently involved in your pregnancy care. We will provide you with an estimate of their fees as far as possible – but Dr O’Callaghan has no control over the fees charged by other doctors.

FEES FOR ALLIED HEALTH PROFESSIONALS:

Allied Health Professionals, such as Physiotherapists, are also sometimes involved in your pregnancy care. When arranging visits with any such practitioners you should ask them what the fees will be. Again, Dr O’Callaghan has no control over these fees.

UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES:

Rarely unexpected things happen and other doctors will need to become involved in your care. As far as possible, any fees involved in such care will be discussed with you at the time.
