NB. The best and safest way to reduce the risk of your baby dying or suffering brain damage from Vitamin K Deficiency Bleeding (VKDB) is to allow your newborn baby to have a single dose of Vitamin K by intramuscular injection soon after birth. You will be asked to consent to this happening for your baby, so please chose carefully. Having Vitamin K for a baby is perfectly safe and reduces the risk of death from VKDB.
